The Canon Photo5 Competition

October 22, 2008

It’s that time of year again, Photo5! I love this competition. The nature of the game; taking each object and trying to find a unique and creative way to showcase it.

Last year I made the finals in two categories. This year I got the surprise of my life, a phonecall from Canon – my email address from last years comp had changed, so they called to ask about using my images (see here, under Box and Chalk) in the promo material for this years comp!! They used both my final images from last year and I received $100 per image for the privilege (hard days work).

This years objects are: a Red Ribbon, a Crayon, Bubble Mix, a Cocktail Umbrella and a Tealight Candle.

And these are my entries for 2008:

For me, the best part of this comp is cruising through the gallery to see how people from all walks of life can come up with the same/similar shots, from one simple prop. As well as a huge diversity of ideas.

The finalists are announced in November – please cross your fingers for me!

Another year has flown by, we were off to the Tulip Festival up at Tesselaars (Silvan, Melbourne). This year we were joined by our friends Jane, Amber, Bayley and Cameron.

The weather forecast was for a spectacular 24deg Spring day, unfortunately, the wind was strong and a bit cool (upsetting the younger folk) but we still had a great time. Good enough to ensure a sleeping backseat all the way home!

Of course, there are some pics…
