This was a unique session to begin with.
My lovely friend Jane booked me to capture her best friends little man. A long wished for, much anticipated little man.
As it turns out, he’s also a stubborn, determined and wilful little man. Baby Jack was not going to be put to sleep easily, or placed anywhere artsy. He wanted cuddles and snuggles and that’s what he was going to get.
Grand final party for Dad to get to?
Too bad.
Mum looking forward to some much needed rest?
Later.
Photographer on hand? She can wait.
And wait we did.
But. Finally. He slept.
He relaxed and co-operated.
For a few minutes.
From Jane:
Faye & I have been best friends for about 14 years. When she rang to tell me that she was pregnant I was ecstatic. I think I actually screamed down the phoneline.
Knowing how much Faye and Andy had gone through to get to this moment made it exciting and scary all at the same time.
I was lucky to accompany Faye to the 12 week ultrasound and hearing bubs heartbeat brought tears to our eyes, seeing bubs made it all so real. Finally, what had seemed like a far off dream was becoming a reality.
When Faye told me they where having a baby boy I was over the moon, I knew he was a boy (well i did have a 50/50 chance of getting it right).
Baby Jack did give his parents a scare when he wanted to join the world at 30 weeks, luckily doctors were able to stop early labour and he stayed put until the required 40wks (and one day) LOL. Much to the discomfort of his mum. whose ribs where starting to really ache.
Faye and Andy asked me to be part of the birth, and of course I said Yes!! I got the text message at 3.30am on the 12th September 2010. Faye saying her waters had broken, but that all was good. Then at 5am Andy called to tell me to get there ASAP!!! I have never gotten dressed so fast in my life. I drove like the wind.
But Bubs decided to relax and take his time, he was quite comfortable in mums tummy. Laid back just like his dad or stubborn just like his mum? I still havent decided.
At 4.43pm on the same day I was priveleged to witness Baby Jack being born. What an amazing and wonderful thing to see. Tears of happiness and relief where flowing.
I stood back and just watched Faye, Andy and Jack become a family.
Faye,
Seeing your belly grow and getting to see Jack born has been amazing to me. You have been blessed with a healthy beautiful boy who will enrich your lives with his innocence, smiles, gurgles, laughs and so much more. Welcome to the rollercoaster we call parenthood. May your years ahead be filled with Love, Laughter and Happiness, that you so deserve.
Jane. xx
Faye and Andy,
Jack is a beautiful boy. Enjoy him. Soak him up. And breathe. He’s here now.
