Vanessa Amorosi @ the Hallam Hotel.

I was lucky enough to get some free tickets to see Vanessa performing at the Hallam Hotel, a long time fan of her voice (yes I admit to singing ‘Shine’ into a hairbrush and a remote….) I couldn’t resist going to the gig, even though I was terribly tired, and would have to get up to my two wonderful children early the next day.

Arriving just in time to see the last of the support act – keep an eye out for Michael Paynter (what a range) and make the effort to see him live! – I managed to scoot my way up to the front of the crowd. There was another woman there with camera in tow (nice to not be the only ‘special’ person lol!) but I did notice she was shooting on a clearly inferior Nikon (oh!).

Vanessa hit the stage and got straight into it, a short set (just over an hour I think?) but it was go go go right from the start. The ‘slipping away’ duet was a crowd favourite, especially when a vocally challenged audience member had her turn! My personal highlight for the evening was hearing Vanessa sing ‘Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart‘ – drool over Janis!

Enjoy the photos, and make the effort to go and see Vanessa live – so many bands/singers can’t live up to their studio sound, but I think Vanessa surpassed it!
